This is my extension shack... here are the major extensions I'm currently
using for Firefox.
This is not a top 10 list, or anything of the like. I just want to be able to remember what I want to install when I install a new FF somewhere.
AdBlock Plus
Of course.. AdBlock Plus.. Whitelists and blacklists.. see webpages how they should be seen, without any hindering advertisements. I have no issues with text ones that are useful.
FiltersetG Updater
FiltersetG.. useless without one of the adblocks, this lists a bunch of bad ad sites for adblock to block. It also has a few whitelisted sites if you are so inclined.
ForecastFox
Of course, this extension isn't for everyone. My roommates don't like having there space taken up by this and that's fine. I like being able to tell the temperature at a moments blink. Sure I don't really use it. But whatever. It's the weather, and it's fast.
All-in-One
Gestures
AiO Gestures is probably one of the extensions i use the most. Most of the time when I'm reading articles on line, my hand is on the mouse wheel and scrolling. If need to open a new tab, it's simple. I don't use very many gestures, and want to get used to using more. But this is one of the major things that irritates me when using a machine without it.
Tab Mix Plus
My early days of FF I was trying many different extensions to see which I liked and which i didn't. I stumbled across tab preferences first and didn't like it so much. After that, I tried TabMix and thought it was wonderful. It did exactly what I wanted and they've been adding chocolate frosting ever since.
It now has a crash handler, which is nice but I prefer having my homepage load so the option to load the last day was nice.
Web Developer
Toolbar
Obviously not for everyone, and I don't install it for family members when I install FF, but this comes in quite useful when programming a new game or feature. Coming in a close second behind this is the javascript debugger, which is quite the memory hog.
Add Bookmark Here
I like being able to add a bookmark right where I want to without having to scroll through a few different screens to do it. Makes organization that much simpler.
BugMeNot
"Oh look, I found an interesting article." Sorry, you don't have a registered account. No worries, just bugmenot.
Target Alert
Target Alert is probably one of the smoothest extensions out there. The only thing is does, is add a very small image next to links. If it's a .doc, it puts a little W. If it opens in a new window, it puts a little box, etc. I've come to enjoy the little bugger, and avoid getting dragged down by an unknown pdf file.
Paragrasp a simple extension that allows you to browse through most of the common blogging softwares a paragraph at a time. The extension highlights the paragraph you are currently reading to enhance your scanning and concentration, especially if multitasking. It will auto-update as appropriate and thusly deserves a spot. Plus, update 1.0.3 was dedicated to me so I figure it's enough to get some real estate.
A few honorable mentions for: IE Tab, Stumble Upon, Image Zoom, Greasemonkey.
